heat gain
Building absorbs warmth
Heat gain is the increase in thermal energy within a space, typically from sunlight, appliances, body heat, or warm air infiltration.
The term appears most often in architecture and HVAC contexts, where managing heat gain affects cooling costs and comfort: South-facing windows contribute significant heat gain in summer.
The opposite is heat loss.
