hash code
Computed identity value
A hash code is a numerical value generated from data by a hash function, used in computing to quickly identify, compare, or locate items.
Hash codes enable efficient data structures like hash tables, where items are stored and retrieved based on their hash values rather than sequential searching: Every object in Java has a hash code.
Identical inputs produce identical hash codes, but different inputs may occasionally produce the same code—a collision.
