handaxes
Prehistoric cutting tools
Handaxes is the plural of handax, a prehistoric stone tool shaped by chipping flakes from both sides to create a pointed or oval implement.
These were among the earliest tools made by human ancestors, used for cutting, scraping, and butchering over hundreds of thousands of years: The excavation yielded dozens of handaxes from the Lower Paleolithic.
