Halal chicken is poultry slaughtered according to Islamic dietary law.
The bird must be alive and healthy at slaughter, killed with a swift cut to the throat while invoking God's name, and fully bled out.
The term appears on restaurant menus and packaging to assure Muslim consumers the meat is permissible: Is your chicken halal?
