hair breakage
Split, weakened strands
Hair breakage is damage where hair strands snap or split rather than falling out naturally from the root.
It results from chemical treatments, heat styling, rough handling, or dryness.
Unlike hair loss, which occurs at the follicle, breakage happens along the shaft, leaving shorter pieces and frizzy ends: My hair breakage got worse after I started bleaching it.
