goalie helmet
Goalkeeper's protective mask
A goalie helmet is the protective headgear worn by hockey goalkeepers, designed to absorb impacts from pucks traveling at high speeds.
Unlike player helmets, goalie helmets feature a cage or full face mask and extended coverage at the throat and back of the head.
Goalies often customize theirs with elaborate painted designs: His goalie helmet has a snarling tiger on the mask.
