genre fusion
Mixing artistic categories
Genre fusion is the blending of two or more distinct artistic genres into a single work.
The term appears most often in music—jazz fusion, country-rap, electronic-classical—but applies equally to film, literature, and other arts: The novel is a genre fusion of romance and science fiction.
The result may create something genuinely new or simply combine familiar elements.
