gender violence
Sex-based harm
Gender violence is violence directed at someone because of their gender, or violence that disproportionately affects one gender.
The term most often refers to violence against women—domestic abuse, sexual assault, honor killings—but can include violence targeting men or gender-nonconforming people.
Organizations working to end gender violence focus on education and legal reform.
