marital rape
Conjugal sexual violence
Marital rape is sexual intercourse forced upon a spouse without consent.
Historically, marriage was considered blanket consent to sex, making rape within marriage legally impossible in most jurisdictions.
This exemption has been largely abolished in Western law since the late 20th century, though enforcement remains inconsistent and some countries still don't recognize the offense.
