gapers
Those who stare
Gapers are people who stare or gawk, typically at accidents, disasters, or unusual scenes.
The term often carries disapproval—gapers slow traffic to rubberneck at crashes, creating gaper delays on highways.
In skiing, a gaper is a clueless or inexperienced skier, recognizable by poor form or outdated gear: The slopes were crowded with gapers.
