freedom to roam
Right to wander
Freedom to roam is the legal right to access land regardless of ownership, allowing people to walk, hike, or camp on private property within certain limits.
Common in Nordic countries and Scotland, the concept contrasts with stricter trespassing laws elsewhere: Sweden's allemansrätten guarantees freedom to roam across forests and countryside.
