franchise stores
Branded retail locations
Franchise stores are retail locations operated by independent owners who pay for the right to use an established company's brand, products, and business systems.
The franchisee owns the individual store but follows the franchisor's standards and methods: Most of the McDonald's in town are franchise stores, not corporate-owned.
The term distinguishes these from company-owned locations within the same chain.
