four-flusher

All talk, nothing

A four-flusher is a bluffer or fraud—someone who pretends to have more than they do.

The term comes from poker: a player holding four cards of the same suit (one short of a flush) might bet as if they had the winning hand.

The meaning extended to anyone who makes false claims about their abilities, wealth, or intentions: He's a four-flusher who talks big but never delivers.
