food theft
Stealing someone's meal
Food theft is stealing food, whether from a store, workplace refrigerator, or someone's plate.
The term appears in discussions of shoplifting, workplace ethics, and roommate disputes: Office food theft is why I started labeling my lunches.
In historical and political contexts, it may describe larger-scale appropriation during famines or colonial exploitation.
