fn key

The fn key (function key) is a modifier key on laptop keyboards that activates secondary functions printed on other keys.

Holding fn while pressing another key triggers actions like adjusting screen brightness, volume, or keyboard backlighting.

Unlike shift or control, fn typically works at the hardware level rather than sending signals to the operating system.
