Non-mechanical game writing
Flavour text is descriptive writing in games that adds atmosphere without affecting gameplay mechanics.
It appears on trading cards, in video game item descriptions, or rulebook margins—bits of lore, poetry, or narrative that enrich the world: The flavour text on that card hints at the character's backstory.
The term has spread to any decorative text that sets mood rather than conveys essential information.
