fire knife
Flaming Polynesian weapon
A fire knife is a traditional Samoan weapon and ceremonial implement—a machete-like blade with portions of the edge wrapped in toweling that can be soaked in fuel and ignited.
Fire knife dancing (*siva afi*) combines rapid blade twirling, tosses, and acrobatic movements with the spectacle of flames, now a staple of Polynesian cultural shows and luaus: The fire knife dancer spun the flaming blade around his neck.
