file copying

Making digital duplicates

File copying is the process of duplicating a computer file from one location to another—whether to a different folder, drive, or device.

The original remains intact while an identical copy is created: File copying to the backup drive takes about ten minutes.

Unlike moving, copying leaves the source file in place.
