fence rows
Barriers between fields
Fence rows are the narrow strips of land along fence lines, typically overgrown with trees, shrubs, and wild vegetation.
Common in agricultural landscapes, they form natural corridors between fields: Quail nested in the fence rows between the pastures.
These margins provide habitat for wildlife and were once more prevalent before large-scale farming consolidated fields and removed old fencing.
