false color
Fake visual tones
False color is a technique in imaging where colors are assigned to represent data not visible to the human eye—infrared radiation, temperature differences, or other measurements.
Satellite images often use false color to reveal vegetation health, ocean temperatures, or atmospheric conditions: The false-color image showed healthy crops in bright red.
The colors don't correspond to what you'd see naturally but make invisible patterns visible.
