fake fans
Bandwagon jumping followers
Fake fans are people who claim allegiance to a team, artist, or franchise without genuine knowledge or dedication.
The accusation implies someone jumped on a bandwagon, likes only the popular hits, or can't name the starting lineup: She's a fake fan—she only knows their radio singles.
The term polices authenticity in fan communities, often gatekeeping who counts as a "real" supporter.
