fairy-tale endings

Storybook perfect conclusions

Fairy-tale endings are resolutions where everything works out perfectly—the lovers unite, the villain falls, good triumphs.

The term comes from children's stories that end "happily ever after," but it's often used skeptically to dismiss outcomes as unrealistic: Real life doesn't have fairy-tale endings.

Sometimes used hopefully: She got the fairy-tale ending she always wanted.
