fagots

Bound firewood pieces

Fagots is the plural of fagot, a bundle of sticks or twigs bound together, traditionally used for fuel or kindling: gathering fagots for the fire.

In British cooking, faggots (the more common spelling) are meatballs made from offal, typically pork liver and heart, mixed with onions and breadcrumbs.

The spelling fagot appears mainly in American English for the bundle sense. (See also faggot, the slur.)
