factory seconds
Discounted imperfect goods
Factory seconds are manufactured goods sold at reduced prices because of minor cosmetic defects or imperfections that don't affect function.
The flaws—a slight discoloration, an uneven seam, a small scratch—keep items from meeting first-quality standards but leave them perfectly usable: I got these sheets as factory seconds for half price.
Also called simply seconds.
