face reading
Reading facial expressions
Face reading is the practice of interpreting personality traits, emotions, or fortune from facial features.
In traditional contexts, particularly Chinese physiognomy, practitioners claim to discern character and predict fate from the shape of the nose, eyes, or forehead.
More casually, face reading means gauging someone's mood or intentions from their expression: She's good at face reading—she knew I was upset before I said anything.
