executive decisions
Top-level management choices
Executive decisions are choices made unilaterally by someone in authority, without consultation or committee approval.
The phrase often carries a wry or self-aware tone when used outside corporate settings: I made an executive decision to order pizza instead of cooking.
The implication is decisive action that bypasses normal deliberation—sometimes justified by urgency, sometimes by the speaker's unwillingness to negotiate.
