enormities

Vast moral outrages

Enormities are acts of extreme wickedness or moral outrage: the enormities committed during the war.

The word derives from the sense of something outside normal bounds—monstrous rather than merely large.

Using enormity to mean enormousness is common but disputed; enormities for vast sizes (the enormities of the universe) draws objection from traditionalists who reserve the word for evil deeds.
