emotional overload
Too many feelings
Emotional overload is a state where feelings become too intense or numerous to process effectively.
The mind reaches capacity—grief, stress, excitement, or conflicting emotions pile up until normal functioning becomes difficult: After the funeral and the move and the job loss, I hit emotional overload.
The term borrows from electrical systems where circuits fail when demand exceeds capacity.
