An ecoterrorist is someone who commits violent or destructive acts in the name of environmental protection—sabotaging logging equipment, burning construction sites, or targeting industries perceived as harming nature.
The term is often applied by critics; those labeled ecoterrorists may see themselves as activists or defenders of the earth.
The FBI classified the arson as ecoterrorism.
