Drop handlebars are curved bicycle handlebars that loop downward and forward, allowing the rider to adopt a low, aerodynamic position.
Standard on road racing bikes, they offer multiple hand positions: on the flat top section for casual riding, on the curved drops for speed, or on the brake hoods for a compromise between the two.
She switched to drop handlebars when she got serious about racing.
