dragonfly nymph
Underwater predatory juvenile
A dragonfly nymph is the aquatic larval stage of a dragonfly, living underwater for months or years before emerging as a winged adult.
Nymphs are voracious predators with extendable mouthparts that snatch prey—mosquito larvae, tadpoles, even small fish.
We found dragonfly nymphs clinging to submerged plants in the pond.
