double dipping
Taking two shares
Double dipping has two main senses.
The literal one is dipping a chip or vegetable into a shared dip, taking a bite, then dipping again—considered unsanitary since your saliva contaminates the communal bowl.
The figurative sense means drawing income from two sources inappropriately, such as collecting a government pension while also earning a government salary, or billing two clients for the same work.
