A dog whisperer is someone with an unusual ability to understand and communicate with dogs, training or calming them through intuitive methods rather than conventional techniques.
The term gained popularity from television personality Cesar Millan.
It extends to anyone who seems to have a natural rapport with dogs: My neighbor is a real dog whisperer—every dog in the neighborhood loves her.
