Illegible bent characters
Distorted text is writing that has been visually altered—stretched, warped, scrambled, or rendered in unusual characters—so that it's difficult to read normally.
The term often refers to CAPTCHA challenges designed to distinguish humans from bots: I couldn't make out the distorted text and had to refresh.
It also describes text corrupted by encoding errors or deliberately stylized with special Unicode characters for aesthetic effect.
