disestablishing
Revoking official status
Disestablishing means removing official status or support from something, particularly withdrawing government recognition from a state church.
England has an established church; disestablishing it would end its official relationship with the state.
More broadly, to disestablish is to abolish or undo an established institution or arrangement: The committee voted on disestablishing the old review process.
