disconfirmations

Evidence against beliefs

Disconfirmations are instances of proving something false or showing that evidence contradicts a belief or hypothesis.

In scientific method, disconfirmation is often more valuable than confirmation—a single disconfirming result can overturn a theory that thousands of confirmations seemed to support.

The study produced several disconfirmations of the original findings.
