diphtheria vaccine
Childhood disease prevention
A diphtheria vaccine is an immunization against diphtheria, a serious bacterial infection that attacks the throat and airways.
The vaccine is almost always combined with tetanus and pertussis vaccines (DTaP for children, Tdap for adolescents and adults).
Routine childhood vaccination has made diphtheria rare in developed countries: She made sure her kids were up to date on their diphtheria vaccines.
