digital sobriety
Conscious technology consumption
Digital sobriety is the practice of reducing or moderating one's use of digital technology—screens, devices, social media, and the internet generally.
The term borrows from alcohol recovery language to frame excessive tech use as a kind of intoxication requiring conscious restraint: I'm practicing digital sobriety by keeping my phone out of the bedroom.
It may involve complete abstinence from certain platforms or simply more mindful consumption.
