desynchronise
Throw off rhythm
Desynchronise is the British spelling of desynchronize, meaning to disrupt or break the timing coordination between things that were previously operating in unison.
Systems, signals, or processes that desynchronise fall out of step with each other: The audio desynchronised from the video during playback.
In technical contexts, it often describes clocks, data streams, or biological rhythms losing their alignment.
The opposite of synchronise, it can happen accidentally through drift or deliberately as a troubleshooting step.
