destine
Set fate's course
To destine is to set apart for a particular purpose or end, typically by fate or deliberate intention.
The word appears almost exclusively in passive constructions: She was destined for greatness, The plan was destined to fail.
Something destined seems predetermined—whether by cosmic force or simple inevitability.
The active form is rare and literary: Fate destined them to meet.
