defragged

Files made contiguous

Defragged is the past tense of defrag, itself a clipping of defragment.

In computing, to defragment a hard drive is to reorganize scattered data so that related pieces sit together, improving access speed.

The term emerged when mechanical hard drives stored files in non-contiguous chunks: I defragged my computer and it runs faster now.

With solid-state drives, defragging is unnecessary and potentially harmful.
