access time

Memory fetch duration

Access time is the interval between requesting data and receiving it.

In computing, it measures how quickly a storage device—hard drive, RAM, or cache—can retrieve information.

Faster access times mean snappier performance: Solid-state drives have dramatically lower access times than traditional hard drives.

The term also applies to any system where retrieval speed matters.
