dammed lake
Barrier-created water body
A dammed lake is a body of water formed when a dam blocks a river or stream, causing water to accumulate behind it.
The dam may be artificial—built for hydroelectric power, irrigation, or flood control—or natural, created by landslides, glacial deposits, or beaver activity.
The dammed lake provides drinking water to three counties.
