crags
Steep jutting rocks
Crags are steep, rugged rocks or cliffs, typically projecting from a mountainside or standing isolated on a landscape.
The word evokes wild, dramatic terrain—the kind found in Scottish highlands or along rocky coastlines.
We scrambled up the crags to get a better view.
A craggy face, by extension, has deep lines and rough, weathered features that suggest character or age.
