crackships
Implausible romantic matchups
Crackships are fan-imagined romantic pairings between characters who have little or no basis for a relationship in the original source material.
The term combines "crack" (as in absurd or far-fetched) with "ship" (short for relationship).
Where mainstream ships pair characters with evident chemistry, crackships deliberately embrace the implausible: villains with heroes, characters from different fictional universes, or figures who never interact.
My favorite crackship is Draco and Hermione.
The appeal lies partly in creative challenge, partly in humor.
