cotton-picking
Field labor intensive
Cotton-picking is a mild oath used as an intensifier, expressing frustration or emphasis: Get your cotton-picking hands off my stuff, Wait just a cotton-picking minute.
The term originated as a reference to the laborious task of harvesting cotton by hand, often performed by enslaved people and later by poor laborers.
Some consider it a racial euphemism, though others use it without that awareness.
It sounds dated and rural.
