coolant leak
Antifreeze escaping somewhere
A coolant leak is an unwanted escape of fluid from a cooling system, most often in vehicles where antifreeze seeps from hoses, radiators, or gaskets.
The term applies to any system using liquid coolant: The mechanic found a coolant leak near the water pump.
A sweet smell or puddle under a parked car often signals a coolant leak.
