compost tea

Steeped decomposition drink

Compost tea is a liquid fertilizer made by steeping compost in water, then straining it.

Gardeners apply it to soil or spray it on plant leaves to deliver nutrients and beneficial microorganisms: I brew compost tea in a five-gallon bucket.

Aerated versions use pumps to increase microbial activity during brewing.
