commensurable
Sharing common measure
Commensurable describes things that can be measured by the same standard or reduced to a common unit.
Two lengths are commensurable if both can be expressed as whole-number multiples of some shared unit.
The word extends beyond mathematics to any comparison where a common measure applies: Are happiness and wealth commensurable?
The negative incommensurable is more common, often describing values or concepts that resist direct comparison.
