commemorative statue
Bronze tribute figure
A commemorative statue is a sculpture erected to honor a person, event, or idea deemed worthy of public remembrance.
These statues typically stand in parks, plazas, or government grounds, depicting historical figures, war heroes, or cultural icons.
The commemorative statue of the general was unveiled on the battle's centennial.
Debates over which figures deserve such monuments—and whether existing ones should remain—have made commemorative statues flashpoints for cultural conflict.
